Computer Performance

Accelerate the process of tweaking your computer called startup. Like most of the procedure involves modifying the computer software before the backup is recommended only in case of disaster.

Perhaps the first thing most people do not realize is that dust and other contaminants have a negative impact on the hardware and in turn on software performance. Such as increasing the accumulation of dust inside the computer case, air flow and efficiency of the cooling effect is reduced down to a level that can potentially lead to overheating. Components of most modern computers have the capability of monitoring and in case of overheating can reduce stress levels, thereby reducing performance or even shut down the computer draw to prevent further damage. So the first bar in optimizing the performance of the computer should be a thorough cleaning of the internal computer, preferably with a can of compressed air.

During the initial BIOS boot sequence computer perform various test procedures, choose the boot device, detects the drive, etc. It provides the first opportunity to optimize the startup time. Set the boot device to hard drive with the operating system can spend looking for pictures of boots from optical drive, network or floppy disk.

But most of the optimizations performed in the operating system itself. When we use our computers tend to install many additional programs if we need them or just want to test. However, most people leave these programs installed, taking up disk space. So maybe the first step is to go through the applications installed and remove those who no longer needed. Many programs like to start the process in the background when the computer starts, so removing them will remove unwanted processes and increasing operating system performance.

During normal use the program to accumulate a lot of temporary files. Which provide additional opportunities to further optimize the operating system. These files usually take place in some directory and manual removal can be time consuming and error prone. There are several automated tools that can assist in the removal of temporary files, cookies, web browsers and other unneeded files. Perhaps the most efficient is a free application from Piriform, CCleaner. Just look at your favorite search engine. After the removal of temporary files usually need to be defragmented the hard drives to improve file access times. The same company offers a defragmenting tool, Defraggler, and free as well. CCleaner can also clean the Windows registry. Use caution however and make a backup before making modifications to the registry. If done incorrectly the system will probably fail to boot and reinstall often the only solution.

Finally, after the hard drive defragmented and cleaned up we can continue to disable unnecessary programs loading at system startup. These programs slow the overall performance by taking up space in memory and slow down the operating system boot. Once again, my favorite tool is absolutely free and comes from Microsoft. It’s part of the Sysinternals Suite and called autoruns. Autoruns displays all loaded at startup components in a single window system so it is easy to remove what we usually do not need. Keep in mind that this tool is designed for advanced users and system administrators so use with caution and not delete anything but the program startup. Autoruns can disable the loading of the selected device drivers, system services, sidebar gadgets and more. It is important to disable the driver or system service might be able to boot.

Additional steps that can help to improve the performance of the program and update drivers. Ensure that your operating system regularly updated. Critical bugs and other problems which are usually fixed in a newer driver and version of the program. It’s also important to keep the operating system is constantly updated to prevent potential security and stability issues. Security software also plays a major role in the overall computer performance. Some of the popular security suites, like Norton, McAfee, Trend Micro or AVG can actually do more damage as they become very bloated application. Instead choose software with lower impact on system resources, such as Essentials Microsoft Security Eset NOD32.
