helping address unmet health needs.

a place where there were not enough physicians, nurses, or other health care professionals,
you would welcome an Area Health Education Center (AHEC) to serve your community.
Texas AHECs link communities with health science schools to improve the health workforce.
We help young
people and career-changing adults gain access to education and become their community’s
health professionals.
We provide real-life
community-based educational experiences for students.
We facilitate
recruitment and retention support for providers.
We host and facilitate
community health education presentations to encourage healthy lifestyles.
We help communities
adapt to healthcare system changes.
